Discovering the Belgian designer of Art’emi
Behind the Belgian brand art’emi hides a modern woman, ambitious and active in her everyday life. Listening to new trends, the brand’s founder and artistic creator, Artemi Vasilakis, is a graduate of the Brussels Academy of Arts, and the Institute of Gemmology in Antwerp (HRD). It is at HRD that she takes courses on the classification of diamonds, the gemology of colored stones, the sorting of rough and polished diamonds, the design and sale of jewelry…
She worked for several years in the world of jewellery and diamonds. In 2002, she decided to embark on the adventure and create her own jewelry brand, which she called art’emi.
His inspirations
Based in Brussels, Artémi Vasilakis is dedicated to creating his own lines of jewelry, in gold, silver, vermeil, semi-precious stones … evolving between contemporary creations and fine jewellery, inspired by nature and contemporary or timeless forms. His creations all respond to the same concerns of elegance and quality.
Artemi’s jewelry is not one that stays in a box out of sight. Indeed, they are jewels that live, just as the women who wear them live. By their finesse and sobriety, they undoubtedly have this little touch of timelessness.
Convinced that a jewel is a reflection of the personality of the wearer, Artémi is one of the pioneers in engraving in Belgium. That’s why, as early as 2003, it allows the customization of its jewelry, so that these look like you. It is undoubtedly his trademark that makes all the originality of his creations. Being a jewel designer, Ann Strijbol has a realistic and contemporary sense of aesthetics. The name of the collection – Chapter 42 – refers to her age when she re-entered her academic past, during which she studied Metalwork and Jewel Design in Antwerp.
Besides her activities as jewel designer, she is also as a fashion stylist, which gives her a watchful eye for good aesthetics.
Ann gains her inspiration mainly from her feelings and she combines colours and materials in a subtle and tasteful way.
The creations of Ann Strijbol are often jewels composed of various parts, that can be worn separately or be part of another whole.
Some necklaces for example are composed of two or three different necklaces. Depending on the opportunity, outfit and state of mind the various parts can be added or omitted.
The Chapter 42 collections are mainly made of semiprecious stones, wood, glass pearls, bone, silver and coconut.
The colours are usually soft with here and there a brightly coloured stone as the exception that proves the rule.

OUR STORY
Let me tell you my story, the story of a student who decided at the age of 24 to create a sustainable underwear brand for men. I studied business at a business school in Brussels and I have always felt involved in and inspired by business and sustainability. This is why I decided to create a brand of men’s underwear that is affordable, environmentally friendly and made in Europe. The CalbART project was a logical response to my wishes. Now we have become a family business, which makes the journey even more exciting.
Affordable?
The price of sustainable boxer shorts with inner support can be quite expensive. The CalbART brand therefore strives for high quality and sustainability at a lesser cost.
Eco-friendly?
Since we aim at building a better tomorrow, we adhere to slow fashion and responsible clothing. We have opted for 100% organic cotton, meaning that no toxic chemicals are used and as a plus, it avoids skin allergies and concerns. The CalbARTs are also presented with reusable fabric bags made out of fabric leftovers. While it is a sustainable packaging, it is also practical to use. Since our goal is being sustainable, our packaging is made of natural materials, which is fully biodegradable.
Made in Europe ?
The best production in Europe, located in Portugal, was the obvious choice for CalbART’s new collection. We consider it as the best producer for it’s know-how and for it’s use of organically produced fabrics.

How it all started
KAAI was founded in 2017 in Antwerp, Belgium, by Ine Verhaert and Helga Meersmans who set out to reimagine the perfect work-life bag for the eclectic woman with exquisite style standards.
Before, the duo spent a lot of time travelling around the world. Rushing from one meeting to the next during their corporate careers. Their main companions: a laptop, a mobile phone, lots of paperwork, and women’s essentials, all stuffed into their handbags.
Desperately looking for a stylish bag to complement their active lifestyles, they knew they could do better. So they got a handle (pun intended) on their idea: creating a new bag concept for women on the go.
Capturing the ongoing energy of the city and the ever-moving water of Antwerp, KAAI (meaning ‘the quay’ in Dutch) symbolises the fluidity of modern women, going places.

We take inspiration from the lives and desires of successful modern women.
From in-depth interviews with active women, discussing their relationships with their bags we discovered that women are:
