The Mania For Kinas
A failed romance with a Spaniard left Kristina Zouein, the founder of KinaMania, with nothing but sandals on her feet. And this is how she discovered the albarcas in all their pleasant comfort.
Albarcas are traditional Spanish sandals made from leather with recycled rubber soles. They were originally worn by farmers back in the 1920s and were handmade by artisans in the Baleares. Today they are deeply rooted in Spanish culture and worn by the Spanish royal family.
Kristina reimagined these sandals, tailoring the design to create diversity and a contemporary edge: the result are 5 sandal styles. UNO, DOS, TRES, CUATRO, and CINCO. Each is true to the essence and practical comfort of the albarca and yet each is a redesign that makes a fresh statement exploring its stylish potential. The DOS is the traditional albarca style which with KinaMania tells the story of handcrafted inspiration: the front sandal part is made from hand-worked fabrics from different parts of the world: the Voyage Collections).
